Igor, you never mentioned that. Similarly, when my dad passed I was sad that I hadn’t been using Jr. at the end of my name all this years. It would have been a way to honor him. Thank you for sharing. It’s amazing how we touch each other’s lives.

  3. The advice is really unique

  4. Frank,
What a beautiful tribute this is to your Dad!
Mary and I have such wonderful memories of him and treasure every moment whenever we were with him. When I worked on your father’s portrait in 2001, my own dad had passed away at that very time, so this portrait became a special personal threshold in my professional career.
My father, composer and song writer, was a big fan of Frank Sinatra and when I grew up back in Russia in the late 60s, Sinatra’s songs were often played in our home. In the portrait composition, I incorporated Frank Sinatra’s image above Frank Military in the background sky and amongst other numerous stars whose lives and careers were touched by your father. So, because of the subject matter and that timing, I dedicated this portrait to my dad with the inscription on the back of the canvas.
Prior to Frank Military’s portrait, all my portraits were signed “I. Babailov”. To honor my late father, I made a promise on his passing from that moment on to sign all my paintings with my middle initial “V.” which represents my father’s first name, Valery. So, beginning with your father’s portrait, all my works are now signed with my middle initial “V.”
So, Frank, your incredible father happened to put his mark on my career as well, in a different and special way.
God bless you and family and your cousin Mary sends her love to you all!

I knew your dad for about thirty five years. He was music… he was funny… he was passionate … AND he was nice. He gave all of that, to all of us. How lucky were we? My thoughts go out to you and your family.

Frank – Our mutual pal Barret Foa sent me a link to this beautiful tribute, not knowing that I had met your dad many times through Liza and Billy Stritch. It’s an extraordinary Valentine to an extraordinary life…I can only imagine how proud you must be to share his name and legacy.

I can’t stop crying after watching this. I never knew all of this. But I am so honored that John Titta always made a point that we stop by and say hi to Frank whenever I visited John at the office. I remember the first time I met Frank he said come down the hall and meet Frank, he’s a real legend. I didn’t know it at the time but legend didn’t quite cover it. In fact a word hasn’t been invented to describe this man. Thank you John and to Frank Jr. and family, I am heartbroken for your loss. God Bless.
